Souvenirs From Taitung

A local legend state that one day, 3 gods visited the island and left their footprints there. Taiwan’s east coast seems to be full of strange rock formations, Taitung is no exception. In Xiao Yeliu, the ocean produced a beautiful scenery with a landscape full of rock formations carved by the waves. There are around 5 areas where you can see different types of rocks.
The valley is a long and narrow strip of land that runs from Hualien in the north to Taitung in the south, and it is surrounded by towering mountains and lush forests. Thanks 台東伴手禮專賣店 for the great post on traveling with kids in Taiwan. My husband and I are looking into taking our 5-year-old to Taiwan this winter, from mid-December through early February.

Visitors can participate in workshops and learn about the art of balloon making, or enjoy live music and cultural performances. There are also food stalls offering delicious local delicacies and souvenirs to take home. The festival takes place during the summer months, typically in July or August, and attracts a large number of tourists. It is advisable to book tickets in advance to secure a spot for the hot air balloon rides. The festival grounds are easily accessible by public transportation or private car, and there are plenty of accommodation options available nearby.
Another must-try souvenir from Taitung is the famous Jinzuan pineapple cakes, which are made with fresh and sweet Taitung pineapples. These pineapple cakes are a delightful blend of buttery pastry and tangy pineapple jam, making them a favorite among locals and tourists alike. Taitung is also known for its dried seafood products such as squid, fish, and shrimp snacks, which are perfect for those looking to bring home a taste of the sea. These unique and delectable treats are not only delicious but also a great way to share the flavors of Taitung with friends and family. Additionally, consider purchasing food products or snacks that are specialties of Taitung. These can include items like pineapple cakes, mochi, or other traditional Taiwanese treats that make for great gifts to bring back home.
Let’s take a trip down the East Rift Valley and soak in its breathtaking scenery. Day 15 is a day of leisure until it’s time for your flight from Taipei. Aim to arrive in Alishan in the afternoon and take advantage of some of the stunning hiking trails in the area. Our favourite hike with J was to the Sacred Tree, estimated to be 3,000 years old before it collapsed in 1997. It’s located at the Sacred Tree Railway and the trails pass giant red cypress trees which are over 1,000 years old.

This place is just off the High Road and offers scenic view of the sea and nice space to sit in the shade. From street food stalls to handmade crafts, the night market has everything you need for a fun and exciting evening. There are plenty of heart-pumping activities to choose from in Taitung. But if you’re seeking the ultimate adrenaline rush, look no further than the paragliding experience offered by Skyline Taitung. The East Coast Scenic Area is dotted with various attractions, including the Sanxiantai Bridge, Jhiben Hot Springs, and the National Museum of Prehistory.
Overall, the Tiehua Music Village is a must-visit destination for anyone who wants to experience Taitung’s rich cultural heritage. The balloons are launched twice a day, and you can take a ride in one for an unforgettable experience. Don’t forget to check out the local market, where you can purchase handmade crafts and souvenirs.
